The PSA Specification
Performance standards in the UK industry standard PSA MOB PF2 PS are well defined, straightforward and well understood by architects and contractors. They are demanding and onerous.
In terms of load carrying capability, there are four UK standards, Light Grade, Medium Grade, Heavy Grade and Extra Heavy Grade. These are arranged vertically in that each grade will comply with any grades which are lower in the scale.
The Light, Medium and Heavy grades ALL have a three times safety factor.
Testing and certification for compliance with one of the four standards MUST be carried out by an independent testing station with NAMAS accreditation.
PSA MOB PF2 PS also recognises the need to specify installation criteria as well as manufacturing standards.
